First Flight Report

The Pico Tiger Moth - flyes like a wet dream.

Finamyren slowflyer airport - September 1. 2001. After a few warmup laps the Moth proved to be a first class slowflyer. Compared to the Stick, it is a few notches more nervous and a tiny bit more difficult to fly. Having flown the stick for several hours and the Moth for only one, this may be connected to familiarity.

The visual impression of the Tiger Moth flying by at low altitude was immense. Drop dead gorgious in mid air, with the beautifully decorated cockpit, and its pilot Snoopy wearing his red scarf. What is lost in flying capasity to the Stick is regained tenfold in good looks. The Moth was not difficult to fly though, just a tiny bit harder than the very easy to fly Pico-Stick-S.

Buildt a week ago, this was actually our second attempt to get the Tiger airborn. The first one was a way too ambitious attempt taking place at Stenrusten slowflyer airport, during hostile weather conditions. The Moth demands no wind whatsoever, a fact we (Kristian & Trond) were well aware of, but ignored to recognise. The Moth got tossed around the same minute it left mother earth. Not fun at all. Luckyly no damage was reported from this first attempt. Patience, my friends, is a virtue when dealing with slowflyers. Preloading picture on next page.
