Kleppe Slowflyer Airport - September 3. 2001. After scrounging around all footballfields in the aerea, we finally ended up in a gravel parking lot at Kleppe. The open space was found big enough for our relative low level of experience with this model. We actually spotted an empty footballfield from the Bergheim road, but by the time we got there ( 1 minute ) it was filled up with ugly swetty smelly fotballplayers.
Kristian launched the cute little biplane, and after trimming the controls, it flew like on rails. Take off was done using only full throttle. It small dab of elevator and the Moth climbed even quicker, too much ( Trond behind the wheel ) and the stall was inevitable. With two battery packs, one 7 cell 8.4V and one 6 cell 7.2V, we were able to fly almost non stop for 90 minutes, only stopping to drop in a fresh battery. We used a boost charger connected to the Deauville's battery, charging the battery for 10 minutes. The new 6 cell pack lasted for more than ten minutes, while the old 7 cell pack took the crapper a bit earlyer. Great fun.
